E3 2014 - Square Enix: Final Fantasy Agito is Announced for the West!

A few months ago, a cool Final Fantasy mobile game was released in Japan based in the same world as Final Fantasy Type-0 (which just got announced for a HD Remake). Square Enix announced that this mobile game called Final Fantasy Agito will also be coming to Western iOS and Android devices. The game is free to play, although In-App Purchases will be offered.

The game allows you to create your own character to attend Akademeia. During weekdays, gameplay takes a school social route and on weekends, players battle together to defeat monsters and bosses. This is a very unique gameplay model and so perfect for a handheld game - a fun social game for on the way to work during the week and a battle game on the weekends where you can get more involved. Awesome.

No official release date has been announced, but I will be sure to post more information when I see it!

E3 2014 - Atlus: New Persona 4 Arena Ultimax Trailer

Atlus has treated us with yet another new Persona trailer. This time, the trailer is for Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is the first trailer in English and with the English voice cast! We've seen plenty of cool Japanese trailers for the game but hearing the awesome English cast was very refreshing.

(I guess until I learn Japanese properly, there will be nothing like being able to understand the trailers of one of my favourite Japanese game series. *sigh*)

Anyway, very excited for the game, especially with the new pre-order bonuses, which you can read about here!

E3 2014 - Square Enix: Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Remaster Coming to PS4 and Xbox One

Fans rejoice - your voices have been heard.

Final Fantasy Type-0 has been announced for Western release in both Europe and North America, in the form of an HD Remaster of the original PSP game. No release date has been announced, but the game is currently in development and will be released on PS4 and Xbox One.

Type-0 revolves around a group of 12 students called Class Zero that are called upon when the Milities Empire begins to attack nations in the world of Orience. The game was also highly critically acclaimed in Japan. Final Fantasy Type-0 is part of the Fabula Novas Crystallis series that includes the Final Fantasy XIII series and Final Fantasy Agito, which was also announced for Western release at E3.

This announcement is particularly interesting when you take into account that a fan-translation was released just a few days ago. The fan translation requires you to buy the PSP game and then install a patch to play the game fully translated. It will be interesting to see who will wait for the official HD remake or who will impatiently download the fan translation (which by the way, took 18 months to translate).

I'll personally be buying the game - I have to show my monetary support to Square Enix for the fact that they are bringing this Westward because the fans asked for it. As much as I'd love to support the fan translation and people's hard work, I would feel wrong if I didn't encourage Square Enix to listen to their fans.

What will you do? Comment below.

E3 2014 - Square Enix Conference: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Gets A Patch, New Class and Marriage Equality

When E3 was looking like a JRPG-free zone, Square Enix came out and saved the day with Final Fantasy news across multiple games in the series. This includes plenty of news for the popular MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. The game will be receive patch 2.4 which upgrades the game to include a new class, a new job, new quests and to quote a translation from Square Enix's conference: "...people within Eorzea will be able to pledge their eternal love and or friendship in a ceremony of eternal bonding. And this will be open to people regardless of race, creed, or gender."

New Class: Rogue + New Job: Ninja

The Rogue class will be a stealth based battle class that utilises dual weapons, speed and the ability to poison enemies. Adding to this, this Ninja class will feature the Rogue classes abilities and add some ninjitsu magic into the mix. You can see them both in action in the above video.

A Realm in Peril trailer

This shows a new quest that will be available in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. You can spot Shiva in this trailer and apparently you get to fight her!

Along with this epic new game features, the game will now support marriage of all genders. A fine choice, Square Enix.

With all this epicness coming, please excuse me while I go and renew my subscription.

You can buy your copy of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn for PC, PS3 and PS4 from Amazon. Please note: while the game comes with a 30 day subscription, you will need to buy a paid subscription to keep playing after that.
