This Week's PSN EU/AU PSN Releases, JRPG Style! (1/8/15)

Why hello! Welcome to this week's edition of Europe and Australia's new PSN releases, which pulls each week's PSN additions related to the JRPG genre and other Japanese games into one post for your convenience.
This week's new Japanese game release is Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist. In case you were thinking 'But this isn't a JRPG!', I thought that the game would may be relevant due to the card game mini games featured in JRPGs....also cause I really liked the Yu-Gi-Oh PS One game what I was younger.
However, there are a few other JRPG things to talk about, mainly from the Winter Sale. The Winter Sales includes a few action based Japanese games, such as Hyperdimension Neptunia Action U, Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign- and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and also a few new story based games such as Operation Abyss: New Tokyo Legacy and Hatoful Boyfriend. I considered buying Guilty Gear or Operation Abyss, but I couldn't justify it until I've finished Final Fantasy IX. I have played the Jojo's Bizzare Adventure: All-Star Battle fighting game a little though - the combat is enjoyable, though maybe not as smooth as an Arc System Works fighter. I would still recommend it for anyone who enjoy's the show though - the animations and gameplay are fun enough.

I hope everyone is having a good week. Happy gaming!

This Week's PSN EU/AU PSN Releases, JRPG Style! (19/6/15)

Why hello! Welcome to this week's edition of Europe and Australia's new PSN releases, which pulls each week's PSN additions related to the JRPG genre and other Japanese games into one post for your convenience.

It's a quiet week indeed on the PSN this week, probably due to E3. Nothing much to talk about, unless you missed last week's Freedom Wars special or you've been dying to see the Onechanbara Z2 trailer. But don't worry - watching E3 conferences takes up a good chuck of time, so if you need some new game news, search E3 on Youtube (or check out our summary post which I'll link here soon!).

Have a good week and as always, happy gaming!

Trailers
  • Onechanbara Z2: Chaos (PS4)
Deals
  • Freedom Wars (PS Vita)
_______________________________________________________

Pick of the week: I'll always recommend Freedom Wars if it's on sale, but the Onechanbara trailer is also cool and free to watch and looks all action packed with girls slaying zombies in bikinis...If that's your thing of course.

What's your pick of the week? Will you be picking up anything from the PSN this week?

Tokyo Ghost Hunters
Hello, hello!

I'm aware it's been over six months since I've done one of these posts, but I really wanted to bring this back as a) it's a really good excuse to lurk the PSN and b) I'm aware a few people on Twitter used to enjoy this series, so why not, right?

Truthfully, I was checking if Danganronpa 2 was still on sale (spoilers: it's not) and it seemed like a more productive use of my time. So without further ado, here's everything new on the PSN this week!

A Week Worth Of Fantasy Life News: Two New Trailers Detailing Multiplayer and Classes Plus Release Dates

Last week, there were two new trailers released for Level-5's upcoming 3DS JRPG Fantasy Life. The first trailer details what the game is about and details the lives/classes featured in the game. It can be viewed below.

The second trailer touches on the original trailer's content while revealing the multiplayer functionality to the game. The trailer can be watched below.

Notably, the original Fantasy Life game in Japan didn't originally feature multiplayer functions, instead released a second version of the game with the multiplayer functionality called Fantasy Life Link!, which seems to be the version that is being localised for Western audiences.

For those interested in the game, release dates have also been announced. For Europe, fans can expect the game on September 26th. North American fans can look forward to Fantasy Life on October 24th. The game will be released for Nintendo 3DS consoles.

Pre-order Fantasy Life (Europe): Play-Asia
Pre-Order Fantasy Life (US): Amazon, Play-Asia

Margaret Has Been Confirmed As A Playable Character In Persona 4 Arena Ultimax + Official Release Date and New Japanese Trailers

After rumours surrounding a recent Persona 4 Arena Ultimax poster, Margaret has been confirmed as another playable character for Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. Players of Persona 4 will remember Margret as the game's Velvet Room resident, who will join her sister, Persona 3's Velvet Room resident Elizabeth in the Persona 4 Arena Ultimax character line-up. Margaret will be available in the game via DLC, though it has not yet been revealed whether she will be free in the first week like the Adachi and Marie DLC.

In the game, Margaret will use the Personas Yoshitsune, Cu Chulainn and Ardha in regular combat and her burst arrack will feature the Persona Lucifer. Here are some photos of Margret in action (courtesy of Famitsu):

Also in recent Persona 4 Arena Ultimax news, the release date for North America has been announced as September 30th. No European date has been announced, meaning that European fans may have to import the game this time around.

(Side note: I will be importing the game from Amazon and trying to get the DLC to work on an Australian Playstation. According to Google, this is possible so if I'm successful, I'll post an article here on how you guys can do it too!)

Finally, here are the latest character trailers from Japan featuring Akihiko, Aegis and Mitsuru.

Pre-order it! (English version released 30th September for PS3 and Xbox 360): Play-Asia, Amazon

Pre-order it from Japan! (Japanese version released 28th August for PS3): Play-Asia

Looking Good! - Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth Trailer

In my other Digimon post, I asked if anyone had played Digimon Rumble Arena. Well, I now feel the need to mention the PSOne game Digimon World before talking about another new and exciting Digimon game. Digimon World was a pretty brilliant JRPG for it's time that allowed you to raise your own Digimon while rebuilding the Digimon community and really brought the Tamagochi experience to life. This is one of the many reasons I'm excited for Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth. You can check out the trailer for Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth below.

Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth excites me most because it's being aimed at adult Digimon fans, making it perfect for those who are now adults that grew up with the series. It has been described as a Cyberpunk RPG, including training, adventure and battle with multiple Digimon. The game also includes the ability to travel between the Digital World and the Real World, which is another common theme taken from the anime.

The game is set for release in Japan next year on PS Vita. There is currently a petition to have the game localised for the West, so if you're keen for the game I highly recommend signing it (I did!).

Pre-order (Import from Japan): Play-Asia

New Omega Quintet Promo Video

Compile Heart has released a longer video for their upcoming PS4 Idol-JRPG, Omega Quintet. The video (in Japanese) is basically an intro to all of the characters in the game. We also get to see the girls in more casual clothes for the first time, along with some battle footage and a cool motion capture clip at the end of the Omega Quintet dance moves.

Epic New Promo Video For Persona 4 Arena Ultimax

Instead of the usual short character trailers, this week Atlustube is showing off a nearly three minute promo video of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. The promo video is a good summary of what we've been shown from the game so far, plus includes some new footage. Some of this footage includes flashes of game play and shows features such as Golden Arena, Score Attack, Lobby and Gallery Modes that we can expect to see in the game.

The trailer also shows a couple of new screenshots from the Adachi DLC, including this intriguing one:

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax will be released in Japan on the 28th of August 2014 on Playstation 3. The Western release is due Fall 2014 on Playstation 3 and Xbox360.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax News: Naoto and Kanji trailers + Adachi DLC Free On Launch Week

Because when you get an email from Atlus saying "Egocentric Police Dick", you know it's gonna be good.
The amount of hyping and news Atlus is giving for Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is getting me ridiculously hyped for this release. Along with the weekly character trailers, it was revealed that the Tohru Adachi chapter DLC will be available for free the first week of the game's launch in the US. Anyone with pre-orders shouldn't fret - the DLC will be included with their order.

I hope a European release gets announced so us Australian and European gamers can enjoy the DLC too! (As you may or may not know, DLC is locked by region)

This week's character trailers are Naoto Shirogane and Kanji Tatsumi. I see what you did Atlus, putting Naoto and Kanji together!

Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair Trailer

A beautiful island and the promise of a "lovey-dovey heart throbbing school trip". Yeah, that was never going to be the case in Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. Your task is to solve the mysteries of Jabberwock Island, but beware: "Sometimes the truth can be it's own despair...."

I didn't play the original Danganronpa, but dammit I wanted to. After my 9 month love affair with Persona 4 Golden, another high school, murder mystery Vita game was right in my ball park. Now the sequel has been given a trailer and a September 2nd release. I really need to get onto playing the first one. So many J-RPGs, so little time. </3

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix Gets A Release Date and Kingdom Hearts 3 is Now in Development!

This wonderful trailer for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix finally gives a release date to the game: It is due December 2nd this year. But that's not all! Towards the end of the trailer (just after the release date is revealed at 2:32), there is a tease for Kingdom Hearts 3, along with the words "Now In Development".

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix was originally announced October last year and it's existence is largely thanks to the success of the original Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix. Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep Final Mix will both be included in the 2.5 Remix along with HD cutscenes from Kingdom Hearts Re: Coded. The game will also support trophies.

Oh, how I love E3 and it's trailers. Time to count down for 2.5 Remix!

Pre-order Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix for PS3 and Kingdom Hearts 3 for PS4 from Amazon.com!

New Persona Q Videos - Personas, School Infirmary, Weapons and more!

A bunch of new Persona Q trailers are dropping to hype us all up for the release in two days in Japan. Comment below if you're keen or getting a copy!

I'm waiting for the localisation to be released before I play it as the game is text heavy - I don't think I could survive too well without Japanese, let alone without being able to read the new story. Anyway, it will be interesting to see how the game is received in Japan.

Ps. I sincerely can't wait for the days my Japanese is good enough to translate these for you guys...and myself. ONE DAY!

Persona, Forbidden Magna, Island Days, IA/VT Colorful - This Week's Trailer Round-Up!

It's hard to keep up with all the wonderful new trailers that come out in J-RPG and Japanese game land. To make this easier on you guys, I've put them all in one post for you. Enjoy!

Forbidden Magna (3DS)

There aren't a heap of solid details about this game, but it looks interesting! It involves spirits. (apologies for vague-ness, I couldn't find much else about the gameplay at this point)

Persona Q (3DS)

This is out in Japan in less than a week - I can't believe it! These trailers go over the gameplay in Persona Q, particularly concentrating on the new dungeon elements. I'm really excited for this and have no way of playing it until it's in English. Wah.

A new Vocaloid rhythm game that adds it's own unique twist to the Idol-Rhythm Game genre. This trailer is a big trailer about the gameplay, featuring the rhythm game mechanisms, an introduction to difficulty levels and daily play, plus costumes and other features. I'm enjoying the idea of this game - it seems to have a cooler, more indie/alternative feel when compared to Hatsune Miku: Project Diva f and has a lot of artistic and creative looking music videos and rhythm game elements. Definitely one to watch for rhythm game fans.

Freedom Wars is a game with a very interesting concept: you play as a criminal with a million year sentence and the only way to work it off is to fight off monsters that are kidnapping the population. This trailer shows off some new characters and weapons.

If you ever saw the School Days anime or played the game, Island Days has the same cast and is part visual novel and part tower defense game. But they're not at school this time - they're stuck on an island! (Side note: Makoto would be a scary person to be stuck on an island with if you're a female in my eyes. Just saying.)

This clip shows some of the shenanigans we can expect from Island Days.

Another character for the new Persona 4 Arena fighting game! This time we see Ken and Koromaru from Persona 3. They will feature as one combined playable character.

__________________________________________________________________________

Ps. I may do an experiment next week and see how I go posting these as individual posts and then doing a weekly round up on all posts. We shall see how this goes/if I go through with it! I'll keep posted about it on the @JRPGJungle Twitter. Would love to hear your thoughts!

Idol x RPG "Omega Quintet" Trailer for PS4

That's right.

Idol x RPG.

Omega Quintet has been announced by Famitsu and Compile Heart's Galapagos RPG for PS4 to be released in Japan on September 18th 2014 (no word of a localisation as of yet). The game is to revolve around monsters that appear to be called 'beeps' that are affecting people's minds. The game's protagonist is called a 'verse maiden' and has the power to stop the beeps. I'm guessing that since a verse could be a 'verse' from a song, that's where the Idol group comes in.

I'm pretty sure I've been waiting for an Idol RPG since birth and I cannot wait for this. On PS4! Yes!!!

Thank you to Siliconera for their original post. A limited edition version is also available for pre-order at Play-asia.com.
